Job summary

Stanford Health Care is seeking a Histotechnologist to prepare tissue sections for microscopic evaluation. You will cut, stain, and mount slides, ensuring quality and consistency across a high-volume laboratory, including overtime as needed.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, at least one year of related experience, and will require HTL-ASCP and HTN-ASCP certifications within 18 months. You’ll work in a fast-paced setting with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of related laboratory experience.
• Must obtain HTL-ASCP Histotechnologist certification within 18 months.
• Must obtain HTN-ASCP Histotechnician certification within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Cut high quality 1-4 micron sections of small and difficult biopsy specimens.
• Ability to cut 50-75 blocks per day while maintaining a high quality product.
• Perform routine H&E stains as well as routine special stains.
• Organize and prioritize specimens and tasks to produce a high quality product efficiently.
• Perform quality control on sections and staining procedures to ensure quality.
• Work overtime and cover other shifts as warranted by the department.
• Operate in a fast paced, high volume laboratory.
• Follow health and safety policies and maintain professionalism.
