Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for the 3rd shift at our transfer station in Massachusetts.

Hourly pay ranges from $30.00 to $32.00 to start, with responsibilities including safe operation of yellow iron equipment, coordination of truck dumps, and maintaining clean, safe facilities during overnight hours. The successful candidate will be self-directed, 18+, have a high school diploma or GED, and ideally two years’ prior heavy equipment experience.

Qualifications

• Self-directed, 18+ years of age, able to work as part of a team, legally eligible to work in the US.
• High school diploma or GED and two years of prior heavy equipment operation experience preferred.
• Physical ability to perform duties in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the facility according to scheduled hours.
• Oversee truck scheduling and trailer switching for dumps.
• Maintain clean public areas per daily/weekly/monthly schedules and safety rules.
• Ensure customers use the transfer station according to safety rules.
• Meet loading schedules to ensure drivers are ready for production.
• Direct incoming trucks to unloading areas safely.
• Report mechanical issues observed during inspections to the shop foreman.
• Participate in training and company-wide learning opportunities.
