Responsibilities

• Provide professional customer service to employees and visitors.
• Respond to emergencies independently or in a team as directed.
• Ability to complete official and unofficial reports.
• Manage vehicle and pedestrian traffic through checkpoints, parking areas, and visitor use facilities.
• Assist with VIP/dignitary visits and special events.
• Guard tour patrols within scope of SOPs.
• Emergency response reporting.
• Follow HOP policies and procedures.

Job Details:

Purpose

The purpose of this position is to monitor and assist with the security and protection of university buildings and properties. To control the access of personnel, report security violations, fire, and other safety hazards at the UT Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, Texas.

Responsibilities

• Controlling access to restricted areas
• Opening and securing doors, gates, and buildings
• Monitoring closed-circuit television (CCTV) equipment intermittently
• Operating vehicle and handheld radios
• Providing professional customer service to employees and visitors
• Responding to emergencies independently or in a team as directed
• Ability to complete official and unofficial reports
• Managing vehicle and pedestrian traffic through checkpoints, parking areas, and visitor use facilities
• Assisting with VIP/dignitary visits and special events
• Guard tour patrols within scope of SOPs
• Building assessment checkpoint patrols
• Emergency response reporting
• Follow HOP policies and procedures

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

$36,036+ depending on qualifications

Work Shift

Night shift- 10pm - 6am
