Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Retail experience or second language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Report safety risks/issues and illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs.
• Reinforce safety programs by following procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep logs.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Display a positive attitude to customers and teammates.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; provide fresh products as ordered.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates.
• Recommend grocery items and inform customers of specials.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions and suggestions.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
