Job summary

CMI Group in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a dedicated Manual Machinist for the night shift to operate manual mills, lathes, grinders and drilling equipment to aerospace tolerances. You will interpret drawings, set up fixtures, and work under ISO AS9100 and ITAR requirements.

This team-focused role requires a high school diploma or trade school, the ability to lift up to 20 pounds, and a willingness to work 40+ hours weekly in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or trade school.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds on a regular basis.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual equipment (mills, lathes, surface and cylindrical grinders, drill presses) to machine metallic or composite parts to aerospace tolerances.
• Interpret assembly drawings, GD&D specifications and blueprints, design, fabricate, and set customer fixtures and tooling.
• Perform precise inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMMs, or optical comparators, ensuring part compliance.
• Collaborate with engineering to refine machining methods, offer feedback on manufacturability, update control data.
• Adhere to ISO AS9100 standards, ITAR protocols, PPE use, and logout/tagout.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas; ensure proper use and care of equipment and tools.
• Support continuous improvement activities related to machining processes and workflow.
