Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock associate to move freight in the warehouse and loading areas. You will operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to load and unload trailers, verify freight documentation, and secure loads for transport, while assisting customers as needed.

The role requires at least 18 years old, a high school diploma (preferred), and experience in warehousing or forklift operations. It involves manual lifting and working in a dock environment with variable hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing and/or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight weighing up to 100 pounds and operate equipment.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Work independently or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading/unloading.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck as needed.
• Verify freight documentation against descriptions (type, weight, hazmat).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
