Silgan Closures - Champaign, IL is seeking a Packaging & Inventory Technician I (PIT I) for the night shift. The role involves final packaging, staging, inventory movement and storage of finished goods, operating forklifts and packaging equipment, and ensuring product quality and safety.

The position emphasizes accurate inventory control, safe material handling, and adherence to GMP and food safety standards within a 12‑hour rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Manufacturing, warehouse, or forklift experience preferred.
• Forklift experience strongly preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to use computers, tablets, scanners, and other electronic devices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts to transport materials and finished goods throughout the facility.
• Perform pallet put-away and inventory movements.
• Label and verify finished product shipments.
• Operate stretch wrappers, labeling equipment, conveyors, and packaging equipment.
• Monitor robotic palletizers and automated guided vehicles (AGVs).
• Respond to and resolve routine AGV and robot alarms.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and assist with inventory reconciliation.
• Load packaging materials and supplies into equipment.
• Perform minor machine adjustments and troubleshooting.
• Observe product quality and report concerns. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Follow all safety, quality, GMP, and food safety requirements.
