Job summary

Silgan Closures – Champaign, IL is hiring a Packaging & Inventory Technician I (PIT I) for the night shift. The role involves final packaging, inventory movement, forklift operation, and ensuring quality with a strong emphasis on safety and GMP compliance.

Work a 12-hour rotating 2-2-3 schedule, with no mandatory overtime. Benefits include health, 401(k), paid vacation, life and disability insurance, and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Manufacturing, warehouse, or forklift experience preferred.
• Forklift experience strongly preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to use computers, tablets, scanners, and other electronic devices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts to transport raw materials and finished goods throughout the facility.
• Perform pallet put-away and inventory movements.
• Label and verify finished product shipments.
• Operate stretch wrappers, labeling equipment, conveyors, and packaging equipment.
• Monitor robotic palletizers and automated guided vehicles (AGVs).
• Respond to and resolve routine AGV and robot alarms.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and assist with inventory reconciliation.
• Load packaging materials and supplies into equipment.
• Perform minor machine adjustments and troubleshooting.
• Observe product quality and report concerns.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Follow all safety, quality, GMP, and food safety requirements.
