Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Company in McCalla, AL is seeking a Night Shift Facilities/Utilities Technician to operate and maintain boilers, ammonia systems, HVAC, and wastewater treatment.

You will log data, perform PMs, monitor safety standards, lead failure analysis, and support other plant areas as needed while ensuring regulatory compliance.

This role supports our new greenfield McCalla facility producing Uncrustables and other products, with a collaborative team and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Requires understanding of safety rules, GMPs and instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and data reports.
• Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain site utility systems (boilers, oxidizer, ammonia, glycol, HVAC).
• Monitor ammonia refrigeration temperatures and update PSM docs.
• Run boilers and thermal oxidizers; perform PMs and water tests.
• Maintain compressed air system and troubleshoot leaks.
• Oversee wastewater treatment and water quality records.
• Perform general facility maintenance and safety checks.
• Lead failure analysis and communicate shift results.
