Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Company in McCalla, AL is seeking a Facility/Utilities Technician for night shift to support our growing plant that will produce Uncrustables and future products. You will operate and maintain steam boilers, ammonia systems, refrigeration, HVAC, and wastewater, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to wear Level A suit (SCBA).
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, GMPs, and general instructions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating night shift and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain steam boilers, thermal oxidizer, ammonia and glycol refrigeration.
• Monitor temperature readings, perform PMs and update records.
• Operate and maintain HVAC, wastewater treatment, and related systems.
• Ensure safety, quality and regulatory compliance (OSHA/EPA).
• Document data, support safety programs, and lead shift handoffs.
• Assist other plant areas and pursue PM improvements.
