Job summary

Harvard University Central Administration is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Operations staff member responsible for cleaning and custodial services across academic and non-academic spaces. The role emphasizes adherence to safety standards and customer service in a campus environment.

Position features a 40-hour work week with evening shifts, on-site at Harvard campuses in Boston area. Must lift up to 50 lbs and be able to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 year cleaning industry experience required.
• Basic proficiency in the English language including reading, writing, and speaking.
• Provide responsive customer support in custodial and related building operations.
• Must be quality focused, customer service oriented and able to communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and specialized cleaning of offices, dormitories, laboratories, libraries, and other spaces.
• Maintains all assigned areas in a clean, orderly, and sanitary manner.
• Sanitizes bathroom surfaces, fixtures, and food handling areas.
• Restocks restroom and kitchen consumables daily.
• Broom sweeps and mops hard surface floors and stairs as assigned.
• Dusts and washes furniture, walls, and horizontal surfaces.
• Vacuums carpeted floor surfaces.
• Empties and cleans trash and recyclables, moves to collection points.
• Operates heavy floor machines for stripping, waxing, and burnishing floors.
• Washes interior and some exterior windows.
• May assist with residential housekeeping during events.
• Performs related duties as required.
• May be required to move furniture or other heavy objects.
• May be required to work occasional overtime.
