Job summary

South Central Regional Medical Center seeks an ER Admissions Specialist for Magee General Hospital - ER Admissions in Laurel, MS. This full-time role covers night shifts (7 PM–7 AM) with a rotating schedule that includes weekends.

Responsibilities include patient registration, insurance verification, deposits, financial arrangements, room assignments, and pre-registration by phone. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent and experience in medical billing or healthcare

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• Previous experience in medical billing, collections, or healthcare finance strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients accurately and timely including outpatient testing, surgeries, ER, and admissions.
• Verify insurance and collect deposits; make financial arrangements.
• Assign patient rooms and pre-register patients over the phone with insurance verification.
• Complete financial applications for inpatients with no insurance.
• Maintain courteous communication with patients and staff in a busy front desk setting.
