Job summary

Merit Health Central in Jackson, MS is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department on a PRN night shift to provide patient-centered care. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care under physician orders, coordinating with the care team and responding to emergencies.

This role requires RN licensure, BCLS certification; ACLS/PALS preferred. 0-2 years in acute care, strong assessment and communication skills, and ability to work nights are essential.

Qualifications

• Active RN license required for the state or compact state.
• BCLS certification required; ACLS and/or PALS preferred.
• 0-2 years of clinical nursing experience in acute care.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care using the nursing process from assessment through evaluation.
• Coordinate with care teams, document findings, and report changes promptly.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor for side effects.
• Respond to emergencies, assist in procedures, and participate in life-saving interventions.
• Educate patients and families about conditions and post-discharge care.
• Maintain infection control practices and ensure patient safety.
• Document care thoroughly and contribute to quality improvement efforts.
