Job summary

CalPortland seeks an Electrical Instrument Technician to maintain, construct, and repair electrical distribution, lighting, computer, and PLC systems within the plant. This graveyard electrician position runs Wednesday through Saturday, 4 pm–4 am.

The role requires calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance to ensure safe, efficient plant operations. Qualifications include a High school diploma/GED and experience with testing tools, blueprints, and electrical equipment.

Qualifications

Electrical systems maintenance and repair
PLC systems knowledge and troubleshooting
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
Adaptability to plant environments and safety procedures
Willingness to work a night shift with rotating hours

Responsibilities

Calibrates, designs, reconfigures, assembles, installs, inspects and maintains electrical systems and equipment using blueprints.
Uses voltmeters, ammeters, laptops and other testing tools to analyze electrical/electronic systems.
Sets up rigging, climbs poles, and uses equipment to access power lines and related gear.
Maintains logs, reports, and schematics related to duties.
Performs minor mechanical work and cleaning of electrical panels and components.
Performs motor changes and alignments as needed.
Maintains process analyzers and supports unit operations.
Performs other duties as assigned by manager
