Job summary

Housing Matters in Santa Cruz, CA seeks a Direct Services Coordinator (DSC) for the NOC shift. The role is full-time (32 hours weekly), hourly, non-exempt, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, 403b, and PTO.

The schedule is Thursday-Sunday, 10:00 PM–6:00 AM, with possible holiday work. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe shelter environment, assisting guests, applying housing first strategies, and coordinating with staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
• EMT certification is a plus.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Valid California Driver’s License with clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently and with little supervision.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining a safe, secure, and clean environment.
• Be available to answer questions and problem-solve with shelter guests.
• Provide supplies to participants as needed.
• Understand and apply housing first and harm reduction strategies.
• Maintain and model professional boundaries at all times.
• Respond appropriately to potential encounters using de-escalation techniques.
• Call upon community resources for assistance when appropriate.
• Maintain quiet hours and visitor policy.
• Communicate with staff via email or during shift handoffs.
• Complete Incident Reports under policy guidelines when appropriate.
• Review and maintain accurate documentation during shifts.
• Provide support to staff and community organizations during program activities.
• Attend staff and agency trainings and meetings as required.
