Job summary

Litman Excavating Inc. is looking for a reliable Nightshift Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of trucks, heavy equipment, and support vehicles.

You’ll work independently during night hours to ensure equipment is safe, operational, and ready for the next day’s production schedule. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of diesel/heavy equipment experience, strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, and the ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and engine systems.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a diesel, heavy equipment, or fleet mechanic.
• Ability to work independently on night shift.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with hydraulic systems, electrical troubleshooting, and diesel engines.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
• Complete DVIR defect repairs and update maintenance records on paper.
• Perform routine services: oil changes, brakes, tires, PM inspections, fluid checks.
• Troubleshoot engine, transmission, and driveline problems.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and ensure tools are organized.
• Communicate major issues or required parts to the Maintenance Manager.
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
