Job summary

GFL Environmental in Wilmington, NC seeks a Diesel Mechanic - Tech B for night shift to maintain our diesel and CNG fleet. You’ll diagnose, repair, and service engines, brakes, and A/C with electronic tools, and perform DOT inspections in a fast-paced shop.

You’ll bring 3+ years’ diesel/CNG experience, relevant certifications, and a CDL preferred. Perks include tool and boot allowances, paid training, and ASE support.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in heavy-duty diesel and/or CNG fleet maintenance.
• Brake Safety Certificate and EPA Section 609 A/C Certification.
• Proficiency with electronic diagnostic software and basic computer systems.
• Valid Class A or B CDL strongly preferred (or willingness to obtain within 6 months). ASE certifications are a strong plus.
• Working knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations, with a strong commitment to shop safety.
• Physical ability to stand, bend, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs., and maneuver in tight spaces.

Responsibilities

• Fleet diagnostics and service: diagnose, repair diesel engines, and CNG systems.
• Conduct DOT and brake inspections for safety compliance across fleet vehicles.
• Brake and A/C service using electronic diagnostic tools.
• Road test trucks as needed to verify repairs.
• Log work orders, manage parts inventory, and uphold OSHA/GFL safety protocols.
