Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Diesel Mechanic - Tech B to work with shop leadership and senior mechanics to keep a diverse fleet in peak, road-ready condition.

The role requires 3+ years in heavy-duty diesel or CNG fleet maintenance, with Brake Safety and EPA 609 certifications. Proficiency with electronic diagnostic software and a valid CDL (preferred) are important, as is a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in heavy-duty diesel and/or CNG fleet maintenance.
• Brake Safety Certificate and EPA 609 certification.
• Proficiency with electronic diagnostic software.
• CDL is strongly preferred (Class A or B) or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Fleet diagnostics and repair: diagnose, service, and repair diesel engines, CNG systems, hydraulics, and electrical components.
• Inspections: conduct DOT and brake inspections for safety across fleet vehicles.
• Brake and A/C service: perform brake system repairs and service A/C using diagnostic software.
• Road testing: test-drive trucks to diagnose issues and verify repairs.
• Shop and administrative duties: log work orders, manage parts, keep bays clean, follow safety protocols.
