Job summary

Grainger is seeking a DC Technician II to perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on automated material handling systems and facility equipment in our Distribution Center. This onsite role requires strong mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aptitude and the ability to follow safety protocols.

You will work with conveyors, sorters, shuttles, and related equipment, documenting repairs in CMMS and coordinating with operations and facilities staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience required.
• 2+ years building and equipment maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair practices for automated material handling equipment and facility systems.
• Experience interpreting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings and schematics and using electrical test equipment.
• Knowledge of safe maintenance practices, including Lockout/Tagout and NFPA 70E standards.
• Experience using computerized maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and general repairs on conveyors, sorters, shuttles, powered industrial equipment, batteries, and related assets.
• Repair and service electrical, plumbing, mechanical, pneumatic, and carpentry systems using appropriate tools and drawings.
• Respond to building issues, conveyor jams, and equipment shutdowns; assist higher-level technicians with complex repairs.
• Follow safe work practices including Lockout/Tagout and NFPA 70E compliance while around energized equipment.
• Maintain accurate work orders and inventory in CMMS; keep work areas clean and organized.
• Coordinate work with Operations, Safety, contractors, Facilities personnel, and other team members.
