Job summary

W.W. Grainger, Inc. seeks a DC Technician III for the 2nd shift to maintain and repair automated material handling systems in our distribution center. You will work under a Facilities Supervisor, handling conveyors, PIE, sortation, EMS, WCS, and related control systems.

The role requires PLC programming and troubleshooting skills, familiarity with CMMS, and the ability to lift 50–75 lbs. A 4x10 schedule (1:30pm–midnight) applies, with on-call rotation possible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of building and equipment maintenance with two years maintaining Dematic or similar conveyor systems.
• 2+ years of experience with AC drives (setup, programming, faults).
• Familiarity with Microsoft and CMMS programs.
• Experience with power distribution, electrical test equipment, hand tools, and gauges.
• Ability to read Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing drawings and schematics.
• Can frequently lift, push, and slide packages weighing 50–75 lbs.
• Successful completion of maintenance skill evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance technicians perform preventive maintenance tasks and routine repairs on automated material handling system components.
• Report to a Facilities Supervisor.
• Respond to system issues involving conveyors, PIE, sortation and controls (EMS, WCS, Sort Director, EWM, hardware and software).
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system components of the conveyor system and building systems.
• Design, implement, and document PLC programming changes when authorized.
• Troubleshoot I/O networks such as Probus, Data Highway, and CAN Bus.
• Operate all material handling and mobile equipment within the Distribution Center.
• Work at heights and in unusual positions; be available for 24-hour on-call rotation.
• Follow safety practices, lockout/tagout standards and Arc Flash; follow NEC/BOCA/UBC and OSHA codes.
