Job summary

University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT seeks a full-time Custodian for the Student Union building. The starting hourly salary is $22.13 and the position is non-negotiable. This 37.5-hour/week role reports to the Lead Custodian or Building Services Manager and requires working 3rd shift (Sun–Thu).

Responsibilities include cleaning, routine maintenance, and event setup, with duties like light fixture work and snow removal as needed. Emergency response and after-hours availability are required.

Qualifications

• Experience and training which would provide the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
• Preferred: custodial experience, especially in educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Performs custodial tasks and maintenance in the Student Union building and related facilities.
• Dusts, mops, sweeps, scrubs, waxes floors using appropriate equipment.
• Washes, dusts, polishes glass, woodwork and metal equipment.
• Collects and disposes of trash and recycles as instructed.
• Reports equipment in need of repair and assists with minor maintenance.
• May change light bulbs and assist with setup for events.
