Job summary

The University of Michigan is seeking a Custodian II to support custodial services across the Ann Arbor campus. You will operate cleaning equipment, including a backpack vacuum, and perform floor care tasks to maintain a sanitary, safe environment for students, faculty and guests.

Responsibilities include using our team cleaning system, handling snow removal when required, and adhering to safety and union guidelines. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with early morning hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions from coworkers, supervisors, customers, and facility managers.
• Ability to wear a backpack vacuum weighing 13–20 pounds for up to 8 hours a day.
• Strong floor care skills.
• Ability to clean/maintain areas located at various positions, including off the floor and near/around obstacles.
• Ability to perform all duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Custodian II performs all Custodian I duties using our team cleaning system and backpack vacuum.
• Operates mechanical cleaning and scrubbing equipment, strips and waxes floors, and maintains entrance areas including sweeping, salting, and snow shoveling as required.
