Job summary

The City of Salem is seeking a full-time Custodial Worker I to provide a clean and safe environment for City workers and the public. The role includes interior cleaning, some exterior tasks, and minor maintenance; typical shift is 5:00 p.m. – 1:30 a.m., with potential overtime.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, pass background checks, hold an Oregon driver’s license, and be able to perform duties independently while adhering to safety protocols around chemicals and moisture.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must pass pre-employment background check and job fitness assessment.
• Must have an Oregon driver’s license and meet driving standards.
• Must pass CJIS and LEDS background clearance within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform interior cleaning, some exterior cleaning, and minor maintenance.
• Work during evening, early morning, and/or weekends; typical shift 5:00pm–1:30am.
• Follow safety precautions for moisture, dust, fumes, chemicals, and refuse.
