Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our critical care team in La Grange, Illinois. This full-time position requires comprehensive patient assessments, care planning, medication administration, and EMR documentation in a fast-paced unit.

You will collaborate with physicians and other professionals, provide patient and family education, and participate in quality improvement while ensuring safety and compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher.
• Critical care and/or unit-based nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to gather data on health status and needs.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on assessment findings and medical diagnoses.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
• Monitor and evaluate patient responses to interventions, adjusting care plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Provide education and counseling to patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, medications, and self-care strategies.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
• Document patient care activities, including assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes, accurately and timely in the EMR.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
• Perform supervision and mentorship of nursing staff to maintain high-quality care.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment by adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
• Respond promptly to life-threatening situations using established protocols and critical care skills.
