Job summary

Albany Medical Center invites applications for the Critical Care Float Pool on the Night shift. This role involves working across Neuro-Surgical Trauma ICU, Medical ICU, Coronary Care Unit, Cardiovascular ICU, and MSICU, with opportunities to gain advanced competencies in ED care and neuro-progressive care areas.

The RN will implement physician orders, monitor and document care, administer medications, and collaborate with the nursing team to plan and deliver comprehensive patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a professional nursing program (Diploma, ADN or BSN)
• Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license
• Obtains and maintains BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum of 1–3 years of RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care
• Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational and time-management skills
• Knowledge of quality concepts and problem-solving tools for patient care quality improvement

Responsibilities

• Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments, procedures and tests, and documents treatments as required by policy and regulations
• Orders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient conditions
• Assesses and evaluates patient needs and responses to care rendered
• Applies sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions
• Provides primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses
• Administers OTC and prescribed medications as ordered
• Collaborates with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients
• Directs and guides ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards
