Job summary

Mental Health Cooperative in Nashville seeks a Triage Counselor to support the Crisis Department with after-hours calls and crisis intervention. You will provide telephone counseling to consumers and families, triage cases, and route them to the appropriate team to ensure timely, safe outcomes.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a human service field and crisis intervention training, plus driver eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a human service related field (counseling, psychology, social work) and one-year mental health experience.
• Mental health professional with specialized training in crisis intervention.
• Valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
• Acceptable Criminal Background Investigation.
• Personal Automobile Insurance.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls to the Crisis Department and route to appropriate team.
• Provide telephone counseling to consumers and families during psychiatric emergencies.
• Assess for scene response and triage cases for face-to-face encounters.
• Maintain accurate records and confidentiality; document triage plans.
• Assist in training new staff and participate in staff meetings.
