Job summary

Simmers Crane Design & Services, part of Flatiron Crane, is seeking a Crane Inspections Technician for the 3rd shift in Erie, PA. The role covers OSHA-compliant inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on overhead cranes and hoists at customer facilities.

Qualified candidates have 3+ years in industrial maintenance or crane service, strong troubleshooting and blueprint-reading abilities, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, construction, crane service, or related field; equivalent military experience considered.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and/or electrical equipment; welding experience preferred for applicable positions.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Performs documented OSHA monthly and annual hoist and crane inspections.
• You will be trained to perform documented safety inspections of specific types of equipment in keeping with OSHA guidelines.
• Understand and manage equipment data including serial numbers, model numbers and other important identifiers which will help to quote repairs and order replacement parts.
• Identify needed parts, repair procedures, communicate with the customer, interface with our engineering department and perform the repair.
• Clean, maintain and adjust crane hoisting mechanisms as well as other parts and features of the overhead crane.
• Repair and replace defective parts and equipment as needed.
• Test and evaluate mechanical and electrical operation.
• Lubricate and check oil levels as needed.
• Inspects crane for defective parts, notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions.
• Discuss immediate safety and performance issues with the customer.
• Electronically document all inspections, services performed, and hours worked through inspection application on a tablet.
