Job summary

Thorlabs in Newton, NJ, is seeking a CNC Operator to run CNC machines and inspect parts to drawing specifications. The role may involve manual mills and lathes, with a focus on quality and safety in a fast-paced environment.

The position offers a night shift (3:45–12:15am) with a competitive hourly pay range and shift differential. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with CNC certification considered a major plus.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a similar position, with CNC programming training.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; CNC certification or trade school a major plus.
• Understanding of blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing is a plus.
• Strong ownership, communication skills, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machines in compliance with inch and metric drawings.
• Inspect machined components for accuracy against drawings.
• May operate manual mills, lathes, and secondary equipment as needed.
• Maintain general housekeeping and perform preventive maintenance on CNC machines.
• Follow company policies and ensure high quality standards.
• Wear PPE and handle chemicals safely when required.
