Job summary

Owensboro Health Regional Hospital is seeking a State Registered Nurse Assistant to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse in the Stepdown Unit. This role works closely with the care team to support patient needs.

Weekend, 0.9 FTE (72 hours per pay period) duties include greeting patients, documenting in the EMR, coordinating admissions and transfers, and ensuring safety and quality through round-based care.

Qualifications

• No experience required
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• SRNA certification required on hire
• BLS certification required within 90 days of employment

Responsibilities

• Greets and orients new patients to the hospital environment, room and unit routines.
• Involves patient and/or family in handoff to proactively meet patient needs and ensure safety.
• Provides ongoing updates to the patient-room care board.
• Promotes a Culture of Safety by integrating error prevention tools.
• Collects data for nurse review and reports abnormal findings.
• Documents patient progress in the EMR accurately and timely.
• Assists nursing staff with personal care per organizational standards.
• May monitor tube systems and handle medications per safe handling practices.
• May update diet orders and verify tray deliveries meet diet requirements.
• May transfer patients in/out of the unit and assist with discharge in EMR.
• May arrange patient transport services and obtain supplies.
• May enter staff assignments into Responder 5 System and verify logins.
• May monitor ECG/telemetry and document rhythm, heart rate, and measurements in EMR.
• May run telemetry strips and adjust alarms per policy.
