Job summary

WVU Medicine is seeking a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant to provide nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The role supports high-quality patient care across shifts and departments at GRMC Garrett Regional Medical Center.

The position emphasizes observation, vital signs, hygiene assistance, and patient comfort, with emphasis on infection control, safety, and teamwork. Overtime and shift differentials may apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• CNA and GNA certifications valid in Maryland.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns/changes in condition to Nursing Staff.
• Assists Nursing Staff with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records vitals, assists in hygiene and patient comfort; records intake and outputs.
• Assists in specimen collection and other patient care activities.
• Maintains clean and safe environment to prevent infections and ensure safety.
• Reports equipment issues to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicates with Nursing Staff about nutrition issues and diet changes.
• Performs administrative tasks to support department operations.
• Answers patient call bell and relays messages.
