Job summary

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill is seeking a Clinical Nurse for the 6 Memorial unit. This 36-hour/week night position (7pm–7am) offers comprehensive benefits and an opportunity to provide expert post-operative and GI/surgical oncology patient care.

As a Registered Nurse, you will coordinate and deliver care using the nursing process, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, and support discharge planning while adhering to professional standards.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• One (1) year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self.
• Identifies expected patient outcomes and participates in revision of the plan of care.
• Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems and utilizes nursing standards and procedures.
• Promotes intra/interdepartmental collaboration and unit goals.
• Assesses and anticipates discharge needs; develops relationships with families.
• Collaborates in planning and prioritizing care with the team.
• Stays informed on nursing research applicable to practice.
