Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Technologist Trainee for our RTP, NC facility, with a Tuesday–Saturday night schedule from 12:00am to 8:00am. The role focuses on specimen acceptability, routine and complex tests, instrument troubleshooting and adherence to SOPs to deliver accurate patient results.

Minimum qualification is a bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science or medical technology, with 3+ months lab experience and ASCP/AMT certification preferred. Training is provided for new grads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
