Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Professional to join our team at Henry Ford St John in Detroit, MI. The role involves night shift work (Shift 3, Mon-Fri, 10:30pm–7:00am) in a high-volume production environment dedicated to clinical lab science.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, with ASCP/AMT certification preferred and flexibility for overtime. Sign-on bonus available for externals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• Non-traditional degrees with science credits may meet CLIA education requirements.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Proficiency with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
• Able to pass a standardized color vision test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
