Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required (non-citizens may be considered per VA policy)
• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• Certification options: MLS generalist (ASCP BOC or AMT), MT generalist (ASCP BOR or AMT), or categorical/specialist (ASCP or AMT) with limitations noted
• Non-certified applicants may be hired and pursue certification
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written) as per 38 U.S.C. 7403(f)

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and analyzes specimens across chemistry, hematology/coagulation, urinalysis, immunohematology, and microbiology
• Performs a broad range of laboratory procedures and maintains quality control
• Operates and maintains laboratory instrumentation and ensures proper documentation
• Communicates results accurately to medical staff and ensures patient safety
• Rotates through general CLS duties with supervision as appropriate
