Job summary

Osceola County is seeking a Classification Officer to assess inmates and determine housing and program placements within the Corrections Facility. You will support inmate adjustment and coordinate with security staff to maintain safe, compliant housing.

The role requires an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or related field and at least one year in criminal justice, corrections, or social work; a Florida driver's license is required. Some travel or outreach may be involved.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in criminal justice, psychology, or related field.
• One year of experience in criminal justice, corrections, or social work.
• Valid Florida driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Classifies inmates according to jail classification rules and standards.
• Monitors custody, housing, and program placements and reclassifies as needed.
• Coordinates with Security Staff to resolve housing issues and concerns.
• Responds to inmate requests and grievances regarding housing rules.
• Screens and assigns inmates as trustee workers per policy.
• Counsels inmates to aid in adjustment to jail life and personal issues.
• Maintains records, generates reports, and performs data analysis.
• Assists with education/work scheduling to support re-entry planning.
