Advocate Health is seeking a part-time Chaplain to provide spiritual care to patients, families and staff in a hospital setting. The role includes on-call night shifts, weekend coverage and holidays, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team across care sites.

The candidate will hold a graduate degree (MA/MDiv) in theology or religious studies, with ACPE board certification eligibility and hospital chaplain experience.

Qualifications

• Must be able to participate in overnight and weekend on‑call rotation per the department schedule, including moving between sites of care as needed.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relation skills.
• Demonstrated group process skills and leadership.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to address and resolve conflicts.
• Demonstrated ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Competence in cross-cultural communication, cultural humility and religious diversity.
• Ability to trust, adapt to change, and to work with diverse personalities, cultures and faith traditions

Responsabilités

• Delivers wholistic ministry of spiritual care for patients, families, team members and physicians; provides spiritual care, consultation and short-term counseling.
• Responds to codes, emergencies and/or crises; assists families with needs related to illness and death procedures; supports patient safety.
• Participates in department/site coverage including weekends and holidays; serves on committees as assigned.
• Participates in patient care planning and inter-disciplinary activities; mentors students and participates in education activities.
• Supports mission and values of Advocate Health in clinical responsibilities and team engagement; educates parish clergy referrals.
• Provides spiritual health education, crisis support and debriefings; participates in educational initiatives and support groups.
