Job summary

Memorial Hospital of Gardena in Gardena, CA is seeking a Certified Phlebotomy Technician for full-time night shift. You will perform phlebotomy, specimen processing, and assist CLS/MLT in the laboratory while upholding AIDET communication and HIPAA guidelines.

The role requires 6 months of phlebotomy experience in an accredited hospital setting when possible, with internal candidates potentially exempt from experience requirements; experience with lab instrumentation is preferred.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months phlebotomy experience in an accredited hospital clinical laboratory preferred.
• Internal Employees with licensure/certifications do not require experience.
• Experience with laboratory instrumentation is preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; patient-centered approach.
• Ability to learn and follow laboratory procedures and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and specimen processing.
• Assist CLS/MLT in the laboratory and with tests.
• Explain collection procedures to patients and maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Document specimen handling, rejections, and send-outs.
• Train new staff and ensure adherence to AIDET and SBAR communications.
• Maintain equipment and inventory; ensure a clean work environment.
