Job summary

Washington Soldiers Home, part of the Washington Department of Veterans Affairs, is seeking a Nursing Assistant Certified for a full‑time permanent night shift (10:00 PM–6:30 AM) schedule. This on-site role supports Veterans with skilled nursing care at WDVA facilities, including the Orting location.

The position requires a WA CNA license and OBRA status, with a focus on resident safety, daily living activities, and high‑quality care in a 24/7 setting.

Qualifications

• Current valid Washington State Nursing Assistant Certified license (CNA).
• Active OBRA status required.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and perform tasks requiring mobility and strength.
• Proficient reading, writing, and speaking English to document and communicate care.
• Six months of customer service in a health care setting or direct patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Actively participates in the resident care plan to improve life and safety.
• Encourages resident involvement in daily activities and decision making.
• Record vitals and other data in the electronic medical record; chart daily.
• Observe changes and report to the licensed nurse; document observations.
• Assist with therapies and treatments under licensed personnel.
• Support activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
• Assist with transfers, ambulation and positioning.
• Monitor equipment and report malfunctions; coordinate with maintenance.
• Respond to call lights and emergencies; participate in basic lifesaving priorities as needed.
• Follow infection control procedures and maintain clean spaces in rooms and common areas.
