Precision Castparts Corp. in Ogden, UT is seeking a grinding technician to inspect, grind, blend and repair castings to blueprint tolerances. The role requires reading paperwork and completing logs, with safety and quality as priorities.

Work the Graveyard shift Monday through Thursday 8:00 pm to 6:30 am, with training on the day shift Monday through Friday. This position involves precise measurement, inspection, and adherence to ITAR-related controls where applicable.

Qualifications

Grinding proficiency and ability to read and interpret defect indications.

Responsibilities

Review x-ray/inspection paperwork, sketches and blueprints to determine grinding requirements.
Remove surface and blind cavity defects from castings using rotary tools.
Blend and rework repaired areas to specified tolerances; may use hand-held sandblaster.
Verify dimensional compliance using micrometers, calipers, ultrasonic testing and similar inspection devices.
Perform fluorescent penetrant inspection tests on parts to verify removal of defects.
Complete logs and records.
Provide work direction and training to other grinders.
Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
Safely operate all equipment and tools.
Identify and report safety problems.
May be required to handle hazardous waste.
Performs other tasks as directed.
