Job summary

Mt. Olive Pickle Co., Inc. is seeking a Night Shift Capping Machine Operator for our DC Production Facility to operate feeding line controls, brine and capper conveyors, and jar washer systems.

The role includes training toward Machine Operator/Mechanic status and requires adherence to food safety standards. Work schedule is Monday–Saturday during peak season, 5:45 p.m. to 2:00/2:30 a.m., with variations as department needs dictate.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English. CRC (Bronze level or higher) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operates controls for feeding line, brine pump, brine conveyor, capper conveyor, and jar washer conveyor.
• Uprights overturned jars and hand-fills with product or liquid as needed.
• Frees jammed jars on line or jammed caps in chute.
• Removes jars not conforming to company specs (slack pack, foreign objects, poor quality).
• Follows defined broken glass procedures.
• Notifies Pasteurizer Operator of product change, lunch, break or end of shift by placing empty gallon jar on line.
• Removes all jars under briner at break, lunch or end of shift; turns off switches.
• Completes shift downtime report from briner conveyor to label machine.
• Monitors product to ensure compliance with food safety and quality limits.
• Capper operator’s absence covered by trained staff for safety/quality.
• Keeps workspace clean and tidy; follows safety rules and policies.
