Job summary

Grand Canyon University is seeking a Night Shift Porter to maintain the campus and partner buildings. You will perform routine and special-event cleaning across classrooms, labs, recreation and athletic facilities, and exterior areas.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 10pm–6am. Pay: $16.30 per hour. You will follow OSHA guidelines, use PPE and cleaning chemicals, and ensure security after cleaning.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent required.
• Minimum 6 months of related commercial cleaning experience, or similar work experience.
• Must successfully pass a background check.
• Must be able to follow routine checklists.
• Must be able to understand and follow verbal and/or written English language instruction from Leads, Supervisors or Managers.
• Must have the physical ability to perform all tasks.
• Must be willing to work assigned shift.
• Must be punctual for shift start and maintain reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas.
• Polish equipment, furniture, elevator doors, railings, etc.
• Vacuum all rugs and carpeted areas in offices, lobbies, corridors and the like.
• Maintain tiled or hard floor with wet mop and utilize floor scrubber/polisher as needed.
• Empty wastebaskets, empties recycling materials and transports collected trash and waste to the appropriate disposal areas/dumpsters.
• Dust furniture, file cabinets, panels, windowsills and other surfaces.
• Service, clean and supply restrooms.
• Adhere to OSHA guidelines, PPE, and handling of cleaning chemicals.
• When night shift, ensure buildings are secured and notify public safety.
• Cleans exterior of building and surrounding areas as assigned.
