Job summary

Grand Canyon University is seeking a Floor Tech for the night shift to maintain hard surface and carpet areas across the campus, including offices, classrooms, lobbies, residence halls, and apartments.

The role requires 2+ years in floor cleaning, ability to operate cleaning equipment, and a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Join GCU Facilities to support campus operations and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of 2 years' work experience in floor cleaning capacity or related work experience.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to understand English and follow oral and written instructions.
• Must be able to fill out reports/log daily & monthly tasks.
• Knowledgeable of janitorial products, green cleaning products and chemicals.
• Knowledge of operating vacuum cleaners, scrubbing and polishing machines.
• Familiarity with OSHA and MSDS requirements and compliance as well as ADOSH requirements.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
• Flexible, dependable, and reliable.
• Ability to work as a team, and in multi-ethnic environments.
• Ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
• Must be able to physically perform job duties.
• Ability to work with harsh chemicals.
• 40-hour work week; overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures cleaning supplies and equipment for daily shift are available.
• Observes safety and security procedures.
• Performs preventative maintenance checks on equipment.
• Handles floor care including mopping, buffing, stripping, waxing, and burnishing.
• Provides floor maintenance including vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting and extracting carpets.
• Completes daily work logs and monthly activity reports.
• Provides other cleaning services for offices, classrooms, and restrooms.
• Mentors new team members in proper floor care procedures.
• Performs other cleaning and maintenance duties as assigned.
