Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing.
• One or more years’ nursing experience in clinical areas preferred.
• Behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery experience preferred.
• Knowledge of psychotropic medications and medication administration.
• Ability to apply nursing standards in an acute psychiatric setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess and plan patient care with development of nursing care plans.
• Administer medications with two patient identifiers and proper documentation.
• Document medical records and maintain accuracy of records.
• Communicate with interdisciplinary team about patient status and changes.
• Provide education to patients and families about medications and care.
• Conduct hand-off reports and coordinate care on shift.
• Monitor patient acuity and escalate staffing needs as required.
