Job summary

Palms Behavioral Health in Harlingen, TX seeks a full-time Registered Nurse (Night Shift) for the Adolescents Unit (Acute). The RN provides direct nursing care, supervises LPNs/CNAs, and develops patient care plans on an on-site unit.

Responsibilities include assessing patients, documenting care, administering medications, and communicating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective treatment and patient education for families and patients alike.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing.
• One or more years' nursing experience within clinical area of service preferred.
• Experience in behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment preferred.
• Knowledge of and experience with psychotropic medications and medication administration procedures.
• Ability to apply nursing standards and practice within an acute psychiatric setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides and coordinates care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs of patients and developing nursing care plans.
• Maintains medical records and educates patients and families about conditions and medications.
• Administers medications and assesses effects, ensuring proper identification and documentation.
• Notifies providers of significant changes in patient status or lab results.
• Collaborates with treatment team to discuss patient care and plan adjustments.
• Ensures accurate hand-off reports to oncoming staff at shift change.
