Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Wichita, KS, seeks an Avionics Electronics Technician to perform testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of avionics equipment in an FAA-regulated setting. This onsite role involves night shift work and adherence to Collins Aerospace workmanship and quality standards.

The candidate will carry out complex tasks with little instruction, including soldering, technical analysis, and evaluating customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Must have prior experience troubleshooting electronics equipment.
  • Must have successfully completed an RTX Skillbridge Internship Program.
  • Electronics Trade School or Military training equivalent for repairing electronics preferred.
  • Prior experience troubleshooting to component-level.
  • Prior soldering experience in related environment.
  • FAA Part 145 knowledge a plus.
  • Knowledge of RF electronics a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Works under general supervision to service/repair/modify avionics equipment.
  • Performs a variety of duties, including but not limited to servicing, operating, maintaining, & repairing avionics equipment.
  • Conducts technical analysis of products, modifications and enhancements to products in accordance with specific customer requirements and approved documentation.
  • Soldering fine pitch and SMD components.
  • Assessments product needs in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Utilizes a good understanding of electronic theory to effect timely repairs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems down to component level.
  • Demonstrates organizational and time management skills.
  • Not responsible for sales activities.
  • May involve lifting 25+ pounds and standing for multiple hours consecutively without sitting.
