Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York, NY is seeking a Per Diem Anesthesia Technician for the Center-Nights at NYP/Columbia University Medical Center. The role supports anesthesiologists with induction, maintenance and emergence from anesthesia, sets up sterile equipment, and maintains supplies in a fast-paced academic medical center.

Preferred candidates hold ASATT certification; required are a high school diploma, at least one year of experience, and BCLS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of one year of experience as an anesthesia tech.
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) Certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides approved assistance to Anesthesiologists / CRNA’s during induction, maintenance and emergence from anesthesia.
• Assists with placement of regional anesthetics and invasive monitoring devices.
• Maintains equipment and supplies to provide quality anesthesia care.
• Applies infection control and safety practices; handles, cleans, sterilizes and disposes of equipment.
• Sets up sterile equipment including IVs, central lines, arterial and pulmonary artery catheters using sterile technique.
• Sets up, operates and disassembles cell saver and rapid infuser devices as assigned.
• Performs standard equipment checks and reports malfunctions.
• Ensures sterility and cleanliness of specialized equipment (TEE’s, fiber optic scopes, LMA’s).
• Keeps workrooms clean and orderly before, during, and after shifts.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
