Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under RN supervision. The role supports licensed nurses and ensures a safe environment while assisting with ADLs, vital signs, and basic clinical tasks.

The unit emphasizes patient safety, quality care, and teamwork. This position requires a valid CNA credential and flexibility for night shifts, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Qualifications

• Preferred experience as a CNA, nurse assistant, EMT, or surgical technician.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
• Administers or assists patients with ADLs, performs vital signs, intake & output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention, catheter care, phlebotomy, or point of care testing as requested.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients, and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities with correct medical terminology.
• Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
