Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Monitor to provide security for shelter premises, ensure client, visitor and staff safety, and support program operations. Driving ability is preferred for licensed monitors.

Responsibilities include shelter entrance monitoring, bag and person screening, regular patrols, incident reporting, client support tasks and, when licensed, transporting participants to various locations. VOALA offers competitive benefits and a mission-driven work environment.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background check.
• Ability to perform on-site daily and maintain professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• SHELTER ENTRANCE MONITORING: guard entrance, authorize entry/exit, ensure security.
• BAG & PERSON SCREENING: inspect bags and individuals for safety.
• Patrol premises to prevent intrusion and maintain safety of doors, windows, and gates.
• SHELTER SAFETY: monitor operations, know fire exits, assist in emergencies, report issues.
• ASSET PROTECTION: complete reports and logs of daily activities and incidents.
• CLIENT/PARTICIPANT SUPPORT: assist shelter staff and participants as needed.
• DRIVING TASKS (if licensed): transport participants to locations and maintain vehicle.
