Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking an entry-level Monitor to provide security at the program premises and ensure the safety of clients, visitors and staff. Driving ability is preferred for licensed monitors.

The role involves shelter entrance monitoring, bag and person screening, and patrolling to prevent incidents. VOALA offers benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Fingerprint clearance and background checks required.
• Ability to work under emotional stress and with challenging clients.
• Within 30 days of hire, complete VOALA safety training.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor shelter entrance and authorize entry/exit.
• Screen bags and persons entering shelter.
• Patrol premises to ensure security and safety.
• Assist shelter staff and participants, including driving tasks if licensed.
• Complete daily incident reports and logs.
• Act as role model for participants at all times.
