Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Security Officer I for the night shift to help protect patients, visitors and staff. This full-time role conducts patrols, monitors alarms, and responds to incidents to maintain a safe hospital environment.

Under Security Leadership, you will enforce policies, monitor access and CCTV, escort staff, and assist with investigations. A current driver’s license, IAHSS basics, and BLS are required or in progress.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of IAHSS Basic exam within 90 days of hire.
• Maintain IAHSS Basic certification.
• Current Basic Life Support certification within 9 months of hire.
• Successful completion of Northwestern Medicine Defensive Tactics in Healthcare within 6 months of hire.
• Interpersonal and communication skills for diverse individuals.
• Writing skills to complete reports meeting standards.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Physical ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Investigates hospital incidents and disturbances to maintain safety.
• Notifies police/fire and prepares reports for supervisors.
• Performs perimeter and internal patrols to protect people and property.
• Investigates hazardous conditions, theft, and safety issues.
• Monitors access control, alarms, and video systems.
• Controls traffic for emergency access and helicopter transports.
• Maintains security of restricted areas and escorts staff to vehicles.
• Delivers deceased bodies to the morgue per policy.
• Responds to emergency codes per guidelines.
• Enforces hospital policies and maintains a professional service image.
